We stayed here for two nights while in the area. The reason that we chose this place was because of the heated pool. Unfortunately, the pool was not heated, which was definitely a disappointment to our daughter who patiently waited most of the day for us to return to the pool. The lobby is fun and has a good bar area. There is NO free coffee in the mornings, so you’re limited to paying for their drip or espresso options, or the crappy room coffee. This was definitely a disappointment. The small kitchen has very reasonably priced breakfast options, but the menu is definitely limited. Location was great! Which walk to downtown, literally attached to the DPAC, good parking garage for guests, etc.

We had room 630. It was very clean and quiet. But it had a very door room feel, and the light switches were not user friendly. You had to go to the door, to turn on the lights. Most of the USB ports didn't work. Not worth the money. Just now a comfortable room to be in. They could do better.

Have stayed at this location multiple times, the place is always clean and feels fresh/new throughout the hotel. It is a great location to several different restaurants. The staff including Shannon D are very helpful. Shannon went above and beyond and reached out to me when I left my ipad in my room after checking out and I was able to get it before leaving the area.

Really nice, eclectic hotel. Front desk staff are good and the bartenders are extremely cool. The hotel has a great design and really comfortable lobby and bar area. There’s a pool table in the bar area and a shop with a great selection of food items. The bar has a great selection of liquors, including some great higher end tequilas, e.g., Clase Azul. The rooms are good. The location, in the tobacco district right next door to DPAC, is great. Two things I don’t like: (1) the parking garage doesn’t connect to the hotel. You have to go down an elevator or stairs, walk outside, and then walk in the front door of the hotel. That really sucked when it was below 30 degrees. (2) There’s no room service. I was exhausted after traveling and a long day of meetings and I needed to go downstairs to get my food order. I know … 1st world problems, but it’s an inconvenience that could be easily solved.

The manager and staff are incredible. Don't come here seeking vegan options. They have nothing for you. Also, don't come in the evening because they run out of most of their food.

Man, we can’t say enough about the kindness we have been shown here at the Aloft Downtown Durham. Benjamin, front desk pm shift, was so friendly and accommodating last night at check-in. He automatically upgraded our rooms. We checked out at 7:45 this am not knowing how long my son’s bone marrow biopsy would take. With BMB and lunch complete we still had over an hour b4 Brent’s appointment with Dr. Hong. Brent was still drowsy from the drugs. So I called the Aloft and explained Brent needed a nap and ask if there was anyway one of rooms was still available. Jacqueline, front desk am shift, kindly said both rooms had already been cleaned but she had the perfect spot for him and to come on back to the hotel. Upon arrival she escorted us up to a large sectional couch in front of a nice warm fireplace and told Brent to get some rest. Proof there are kind, loving people in this world! Beautiful and spacious rooms and lobby/lounge area. Our rooms were upgraded to King Business and King Savy. As a Marriott platinum member the perks are very rewarding. If you are not a member I highly suggest you join. #godisinthedetails #godsgotyouglover #Godisinthisstory #BRENTSTRONG #kickinapltothecurb

Eli and his staff were all amazing. This Marriott is one of the fancier ones I've been to. The lobby itself is a lounge, pool table, bar, restaurant. Pool and fitness center is on the second and third floor and beautiful view of downtown and the bulls stadium from the pool. I only wish I could've stayed longer. The rooms are beautifully set up. A must if you're visiting Durham. Tell Eli I said hello 🤗

Recently remodeled. Liked it better before. TVs in room had very very limited channels which were incredibly slow to load. No apps and no ability to connect external devices to watch Amazon, Netflix, etc. Was stuck watching one of 12 channels during stay. My room had no hand towels or hand soap. Offered complimentary water bottle for the first night despite my 5 day stay. Location is perfect. Bar stays open late. Breakfast sandwiches are delicious.

A nice hotel in a loud area but that's not the hotels fault. Pool and gym facilities are a bit small. Staff were very attentive and welcomed me in everyday, the only thing being that they didn't replace the water in the room despite being there for 2 weeks.

We will never forget the friendly and helpful service that we received at the aloft hotel in downtown Durham for our baby shower! It was a baby shower to remember! The space was beautiful and spacious!
