overall just good enough to be good.
first experience: called to order oxtail (i mentioned this) but was told they don’t take orders over the phone so i said no problem & came in. when i attempted to order oxtails was told that they’re out. i was’t surprised by this (it was nearing closing time) but this could’ve been communicated over the phone to save my time & gas.
second experience: called to confirm they had oxtail before making a 30 mins drive & was told yes. came in to order & was told 30 mins, no problem again, although it was roughly 40 mins, wasn’t an issue for me.
order (below) was oxtail, cabbage & rice & peas. i was lowkey disappointed because i was expecting it to be GREAT but it was just good enough to be good. the oxtail, which i mainly came for lacked flavor. it was!’t bland but it nearly tasted like soul food oxtail rather than Jamaican oxtail. so that was a bit underwhelming. it also had a good bit of fat on it compared to the meat but this wasn’t a terribly off ratio. the cabbage was really crunchy, almost like a slaw. i noticed in other reviews there was cabbage more cooked down with the crunchy pieces mixed in but that was not my experience. the rice and peas were mushy, which i realize happens with the gravy and the food sitting for half an hour but it was still incredibly mushy.
overall, i would not return but if you haven’t had a lot of Jamaican food maybe you won’t notice the things i did or be bothered by it. i don’t wanna say what happened to my stomach right after eating this meal but it was instant…
**also they make the rice and peas with coconut milk in case you’re allergic or don’t like it. not everyone does, so i figured it’s good to note

Was looking for a good Jamaican spot and this popped up with great reviews so I decided to try it myself. So glad that I did. It was delicious! I tried the medium sized jerk chicken, rice and peas and cabbage since it was my first time, and it exceeded my expectations. The chicken was fall off the bone, the meat and skin was full of spices and the oxtail + jerk gravies were delicious too. I also grabbed a beef patty with coco bread and that did not disappoint. They even have pink Ting!
When I walked into the restaurant, there was a family of 4 (2 adults/2kids) sitting in a dining area that has a mix of tables that can seat groups of up to 2 and 4 people. The woman who took my order greeted me and asked if it was my first time there. I told her yes and how I found them, and she said I made the right choice instead of going elsewhere. She was absolutely right! A watch out for me when eating at restaurants that have food from other cultures is if people from that culture are eating there, too. When you have Jamaicans eating at a Jamaican spot, you know it’s good.
So glad I found Angie’s and I’ll definitely be back!

Stopped in to Angie's this week. Because of course, it's on my Instagram so why not try it? There are a lot of restaurants that claim to be authentic. I think we have found a winner guys. This was absolutely delicious I had the curry and jerk chicken and you see the sides. I ate the curry so sorry no pictures but that let's you know the food was on point. Thank you Garfield for having great customer service. Guys if you are in the area and craving true Jamican food that you had on that island vacation Angie's is the spot to go!!! I will be returning in the future and anytime I'm in the area.

I got the oxtail plate with rice and peas, cabbage, and a side of Mac. This food had my jaw drop. I’ve never had Jamaican food so flavorful. I think the Mac and cheese was the best Mac I’ve ever had with all of the spices in there that blended together in perfection. The oxtail was so tasty and tender but it wasn’t even the highlight of the plate for me. I could not stop eating the sides of cabbage and rice and peas with the oxtail gravy.
What an amazing establishment! Top 5 eats in Durham for sure.

Simply decent. If you are looking for decent curry chicken this is the place to go. The rice and peas were really good. Jerk chicken needs a bit more seasoning to give more flavor. However, for the pricing of the food they should not be selling Dollar Tree beef patties then charging $3.50 for it.

Good spot for Jamaican food. I got a large goat curry and my wife got a small oxtail. The food was good. I rated it at 4 stars because I’ve had better Jamaican food as both dishes could have had more flavor. Overall worth a stop if you’re in the area. $67 with both dishes, drinks and 2 beef patties.

The restaurant service is good, and it’s very clean. The food is cooked promptly and you get your money's worth. I ordered the curry goat, rice, and peas with cabbage. The food is seasoned perfectly. You have medium to large options to choose from. They do not cheat you on the amount of food that’s given. This was my first time trying the restaurant, I will be back again.

I am so excited to have visited Angie's! The food, service, and atmosphere were fabulous!! My group was truly impressed by the phenomenal service we received. The team working when we visited were helpful and kind as it was our first time. They helped us navigate our options as well. While it seems most people order their food to-go, there are tables so you dine there. Relaxing vibe!
I've already told others about Angie's so that they can visit.

Next to the DMV, you'll find this restaurant. The place is spotless, and the service is fast. There is hand sanitizer on each table, which I appreciate.
During my first visit, I had the beef patty and the Jerk chicken with cabbage, rice, and beans. The Jerk chicken had a unique sweet and spicy flavor, which I enjoyed. The cabbage was flavorful, and the rice and beans were good, although the portion size was large, and I couldn't finish everything.
Remember that drinks are not included, so you must pay separately. Despite this, I would go back.
