Sometimes you just have to go with your gut! I was looking for a new breakfast spot in town because I didn't want my usual. Because their were mixed reviews about the place, I thought about leaving but took a chance after asking a lady leaving the restaurant her opinion on the food and she proceeded to say it was good.
As soon as we walked in, there were maybe 3 tables seated and a bunch of staff. The hostess in particular must have been very new as she was very confused on how to seat us at our table. My mom ended up ordering pancakes and grits, and I ordered the low country skillet. Well in my opinion the title of this dish was very accurate. Nothing about this dish gave me country flavor or seasonings. The only thing with flavor was the four pieces of shrimp they gave me. The first biscuit given to me was hard as rock. I was give another one which turned out to be softer on the top, hard on the bottom and dry in the middle. The only thing that saved the biscuit was the made in house strawberry jam. My mom enjoyed her pancakes, but made a note that they do soak up all the syrup. The grits were okay, but after sitting on the table for about 3 minutes they became cold and stiff.
Nothing to rave about, but I encourage you to try it for yourself as everyones tastebuds are made differently!

So have to say this is our second time here and once again the food was amazing! The getting settle was a bit all over the place from checking in and getting our order was a long wait but all worth the wait because the food was so great! Love the food!

I enjoyed the entire experience from the time I walked in to when I left! OMG! Everything was just wonderful. They had freshly squeezed orange that was truly refreshing. Great atmosphere, and my server was amazing. Great place for breakfast!

I had a wonderful breakfast outing Monday. Myself and 2 friends met there for breakfast and were not disappointed. The food was excellent all the way around. The biscuits and homemade jams were amazing. The coffee was superb. And the service, provided by "Lee" was exceptional. She was efficient, helpful, friendly, and had an amazing sense of humor. She made the meal fun in addition to being delicious. A great experience all the way around. I'll be going back again very soon!

Definitely will be back. If you want a traditional home cooked meal, this is your place. Mimosas and Irish coffee were great. We tried their skillet and eggs Benedict, both barely lasted long enough to catch a photo. And the homemade jellies? You have to try all of them! Lee made sure we were taken care of and the overall service was excellent.

We had an amazing experience here in Durham. As soon as we entered, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The service was amazing, our waiter Rob was personable and informative which added to our experience. We ordered the Breakfast Plate, the Dirty Bird, and the Sundried Cranberries and Granola all of which were delicious. The homemade food was like no other and the creole inspired dishes were second to none. Everything had a fresh taste while being reasonably priced. If you are around Duke Hospital definitely stop by.

Everything about this visit was flawless. My mom and I were greeted warmly and seated quickly by front of house. Robbie was fast, polite and laid back while making sure we had everything we needed. Other employees checked in on us and gave a great team atmosphere and an all around awesome vibe. We ordered Yardwork skillets and coffees - everything was perfect.

We took a red-eye from San Diego and landed in Raleigh. This was the first thing we had eaten, so the review may be a bit skewed because we were very hungry when we arrived... but probably not.
The three of us can all agree that the food was excellent. We order the biscuit and sausage gravy with an egg overeasy, the "Jack Benny," and the "Screamin Demon"
The staff was friendly, and even provided some welcomed advice about the local colleges that we were coming to visit.
The food came out quickly, and it was all quickly devoured with little conversation between the three of us. When we finally spoke, it's was all in agreement that the food was delicious and the portions were fair.
The price was right, the restaurant had good seating and was pretty clean, and the staff was excellent. The only drawback is that the parking area can get busy, but that has nothing to do with Big Bad Breakfast.
I will be visiting any time I pass through Durham.
