In the 1940s, Glen Bullock started selling his barbecue door-to-door. Years later, he would join forces with his wife Lillian, a skilled cook and baker, to open the original Bullock’s Bar-B-Cue. Their restaurant is a well-loved, family-owned and operated fixture in Durham serving family-style all-you-can-eat barbecue pork and fried chicken. Pair your barbecue with coleslaw, string beans, fries or hushpuppies. (Also, the restaurant is cash only, so make sure to bring those bills!)

The food was absolutely delicious. I traveled to NC, and they were my first lunch stop.

Took my wife , she had the three vegetable plate. I got fried flounder with three sides. Everything was perfect. Awesome hush puppies and tea as well. Cash only!

Food was good. Not gourmet soul food (Mac& cheese wasn't great) but for the price you can't beat it. Gave plenty hush puppies and got so much food I had another meal off of it. I ordered bbq, 2 chicken breast, and two sides for less that $16! Building is a little older and could use some remodeling but all in all I would definitely recommend.

Old school barbecue place in Durham. Great food, great prices and large portions what more can I say. Just off I-85 if you are passing through. Friendly service and enough food I had plenty of leftovers. The hushpuppies were great and I had a country ham and 3 delicious sides.

On our way from VA to TX and I wanted my family to try some real NC BBQ. It was perfect! Right off 85 and the food was great! The BBQ, Brunswick Stew and the Mac N Cheese were 10 stars! Plus, the service was amazing! Even my Texan hubby loved the BBQ and slaw. The kids loved the huge grilled cheeses. Enough for the little ones to split one. Plus, you can't beat the prices. Fed all 7 of us for under $50. Super glad we stopped in.
