AVOID THE BAR ON TUESDAYS (maybe other days as well).
Tried to go to the bar; bartender, on Taco Tuesday, was slow and non-attentive (we stood at one end for a couple of minutes and she never even looked at that end of the bar) and not pleasant to us or other guests who were there, so I can’t say how the food was this time - because we didn’t have time to order it and didn’t really want to interact with her even if we could. Unfortunately, my friend who was with me had been fasting all day; we thought the bar might be faster, but we saw the people just behind him ordering at the register, so we know it’s slower.
It’s ok if we are not, in fact, supposed to order at the bar or if there’s a new bartender who’s easily overwhelmed; been there, done that. I’d just strongly recommend putting up signs to tell people to order in the line and not at the bar in that case; sure, it’s fewer tips for the bartender (not that she’ll get ours anyway tonight), but it’ll help customers have a better experience.

Taco Tuesday! Is a must. Tacos are normally $4ish and on Taco Tuesday they are all you can eat for $2 each.
So, order your tacos, pick the meat (everything except seafood on taco Tuesday) and enjoy your chips and salsa with your meal. Make your way to the salsa bar before you sit down. They will bring your food out pretty quickly. This time I had to have the chicken nachos.....they were so good.
Definitely a spot we will visit again.

Love that they offer vegan options. Chips and salsa bar are still included. If you go often collect the points they pay off. One of our go to places for a quick less expensive meal.

The food is consistently good, and the prices stay reasonable. The staff is friendly and the restaurant was clean. I enjoyed the nachos!

Chubby's Tacos is one of the first NC food gems I found after moving here over a decade ago. It's been one of the places I missed most after moving to another (nearby) city. I was thrilled to stumble on their Durham location while running errands. It's every bit as good as I remember! Definitely worth a visit, and I know we'll be making this a regular stop now.

Today was my first time coming into chubby tacos 10/10 everything was great ! I will be coming back again tonight. I have found my new favorite taco spot. Also the strawberry margarita was so so good. Prices are wonderful I did not expect the prices to be what it was when I first walked in. So worth it I must say. If you haven’t please please check this place out !

Food came out extremely fast- we barely even sat down at our table before it was there! The prices are great- ~$10 for build your own burrito bowl with grilled chicken. Lots of seating options both in and outside. There is a nice bar if you are interested in a drink with your meal. Thirsty Thursday is $2 beers! They also did LOTS of to-go orders while I was there so that's another great option. Definitely will be coming back soon!

Please change the salsas back to the way they used to be, my family and I have been eating here for years and always enjoyed the salsa. Recently they have changed all the salsas they are not nearly as good as they used to be. Hopefully they can bring back to good stuff!

I love chubby's tacos, I have been eating here my whole life, even before moving to the new location. One of my favorite parts of chubbys is the salsa bar, although recently all the salsas have changed and are now not nearly as good as they used to be! I am writing this in hopes that they will consider going back to the salsas when they were delicious.
