The Raleigh-based brewery has expanded to Durham with a location in University Hills. Try one of the flagship beers or the latest taproom-only small-batch release. Gizmo is family-friendly and welcomes pups, so you can bring the whole crew, or stop by solo to make a new friend at trivia night.

Edit: I love that Gizmo’s supports local artists, and I love to buy art here as gifts when I can. Posting a few pics of the pottery & visual art I’ve bought from the art vending tables that are switched out on the regular! 🖼️ — If you are a poet this is a perfect place to write and watch the clouds and have a cold beer/cider. I can’t think of a better place. Lovely beers, beer “cocktail” blends, and bartenders will give you a taste or sample. Great, casual place to meet friends for a cheeky pint.

Great place to meet up with friends and family. Lots of games to play. Easy to order food from nearby restaurants (ex. Curry Up Now) that is delivered to the taproom.

Perfect for casual beers with friends and sunny afternoons. Huge selection of beers and some non-alcoholic options (kombucha, though not on tap). Love the indoor / outdoor atmosphere - you can sit at the bar to watch a game, sit at a table and play a board game, or sit on the balcony and watch the sunset.

I'm not sure if this place serves food so I don't have an opinion on that option. I've only been there three times and the bar staff are not unfriendly but not overly friendly at the same time if you get my meaning. I know that it's hard to find good help these days and they should hire someone with a bit more personality to run the show.

Nice layover at Gizmo’s in Durham. We had a 90 minute wait at a dental clinic so we headed over to the brewery for a few cold ones. Matt the bartender was excellent and suggested some brews to try. I had the hop on top IPA from Linwood brewing which was awesome and my wife had the Once upon a lime in Mexico which is a good rendition of Corona draft with lime. No food availability-except for munchies but we ordered chicken from the restaurant below the brewery. Definitely worth a stop!!
