I was in need of a room near the hospital while my daughter had surgery. I wanted the flexibility of being able to run back to shower and change clothes when time allowed, without having to move my own car, pay to park or take uber. The Lodge worked out really well for us. My only minor complaints would be I wish there was a dresser but there simply is no room for one and lack of onsite laundry. Staying 2 weeks requires a little more packing then I would have liked and the closet and few drawers were a little too small to accommodate everything. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful at every turn.

I stayed at The Lodge at Duke Medical Center because I was having a total ankle replacement. The location was perfect. The staff was very friendly. They answered any questions I had. The room was clean. The beds big and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

UPDATE: Since I am unable to reply to the manager I'd like to add something here; as mentioned in my review all the staff here are absolutely wonderful. I appreciate mentioning you would have happily changed our room but I don't think it was the rooms fault, I think the building in general is in an unfortunate state of disrepair. But because of how kind and amazing the staff is and refunding a night of our stay I WILL raise the review to 3 stars. If the building was even half as kind and wonderful as the humans working inside of it I would easily give this place 5 stars. If I ever come back to this area and its not gross rainy mucky weather I will happily give The Lodge another try. I have dubbed thee, The Soggy Hotel. This has got to be, by far, one of the worst hotels I've stayed in as far as comfort. The staff is wonderful and kind and I have nothing against them, but the hotel is well... soggy. The whole stay our room felt damp and muggy, we tried warmer air we tried cooler air, nothing helped how damp the room was. Even our clothes and bags ended up soggy, putting on cold damp clothes in the morning is not nice. My sister mentioned that the hotel room smelled like a camping tent when she walked in and that was spot on. The beds were hard and everything just felt /so/ damp, it was hard to breathe hard to sleep hard to relax. It got to the point we genuinely didn't look forward to having to go back to the room at night. The building is in disrepair, holes in the floor clogged drains and all around just old and falling apart. A lot of maintenance needs to be done and maybe new ac systems to make it less soggy.

Pros: Walking distance to hospital, discount for Duke patients, room and bedding was clean, staff was nice and pleasant, free shuttle to hospital Cons: The beds are very hard and really uncomfortable. Be prepared to be woken up by anything and everything as the walls are thin. The neighbors door closing at 4 am woke me up. At 4:30 am, a really loud noise of what sounded like a helicopter landing. The shower filled with water as it was clogged with hair, and the tiles in the shower were dirty.

Duke's hotels are so different. The two hotels are a short walk away. Before the hotel next door experienced poor service. Old and rotten. The new look here and the super superior quality. It was the perfect end to our trip to Duke. Great value for money 👍 perfect facilities 👍 service first class 👍 location convenient super convenient

I had the most wonderful experience at The Lodge. My stay was during one of the scariest times of my life while my husband was having a kidney transplant at Duke Hospital nearby. The rooms were clean and quiet And comfortable! Most importantly the staff was ABOVE AND BEYOND friendly. It’s impossible to explain how much their kindness meant to me while I was going through a harrowing experience. They also made it very easy to change my stay dates based on my husband’s hospital stay. So happy I stayed here and thank you to the staff if you’re reading this!

The staff is the friendliest you’ll ever meet. Rooms were nice and clean. The common areas on the first floor were also very nice. Lots of room for just lounging around. The hotel provides a free shuttle to Duke hospital which was very convenient. It is within walking distance too. We’ll stay here again.

If you need a place to stay near Duke, this will do the trick. But the rooms are a bit loud, sort of hard surfaces where you'll hear through the shared door if there are people next door. The shade or blinds weren't really thick at all and so outside lights shown through all night which was pretty annoying. The person who checked me in was super nice, affable and it was a simple process.

All around great place to stay. The staff is amazing. My son had eye surgery and when we called for the shuttle service after the surgery they were there quickly and showed so much care and compassion.
