Yum! How lucky are we in Durham to have such skilled pastry chefs locally? I can’t believe we can get delicacies like what’s available at Sweets by Shayla in downtown. I got three patisserie type desserts to share and each were exceptional - opera cake, pistachio strawberry rose torte, and carrot cake. What a hidden gem. I went for the first time today and I will certainly be back. Thank yall for being here!

I had a delightful experience with the oversized raspberry macaron. It featured a delicious cream center, fresh raspberries in the middle, and a dollop/layer of raspberry jam filling also in the center. The macaron was immaculate and melted in my mouth. I also really enjoyed the Lime macaroon as well. Although it's located in downtown Durham, where parking can be a challenge, it was worth it. I look forward to returning.

This place is amazing and delicious!!! Everything that I’ve had from here has tasted like it was baked in heaven and brought down onto earth by God’s best angel. Literally that good.
Price reflects a “treat yourself” day, but absolutely worth it. SO good. And get an assortment of macaroons!! Absolute perfection, all flavors!!

Update 2024: Shayda does it again! Ordered a lemon lavender birthday cake for my daughter. Shayda put together this masterpiece short notice, less than a week, and it was just as spectacular as the first one 2-3 years ago. Trust me, these works of art are well worth consuming. Many many thanks, Shayda!
I’ve been to 42 countries. My child has been to 23. Dining delights has come with each destination. Last summer we found several exquisite & delicious treats at Sweets by Shayda that tops them all.
My daughter celebrated her birthday last week. Only the best would do. Hands down, Sweets by Shayda is it! Shayda constructed not one but 2 masterpieces in record time. Lemon Lavender cake and Lavender Vanilla cake. Absolute perfection.

I'm a stickler for something sweet, so the fact that this place has the freshest and yummiest sweets I've ever had was awesome. I didn't feel like it was overly sweet. The macarons are great. The raspberry macaron was amazing. The croissants are awesome! Everything was great like literally everything was great..
