If you’re looking to add a little more spice to your life this winter, check out the new fast casual Mexican restaurant Tacos Number Juan located in Hope Valley Farms. With an affordable menu, including deals like .99 cent Taco Tuesdays, it could become a regular haunt. If the flavors taste familiar, it’s because it’s owned by the same restaurant group behind Fonda Lupita, which has a strong reputation for quality Mexican food. There are tortas and quesabirrias, ACPs, burritos, and bowls, not to mention signature sides like chorizo queso dip, chicken rolls and loaded fries. Wash it all down with a homemade margherita or a classic Mexican beer.

Great new (relatively) taco joint in Durham. Gotta say, way better than the awful Wendy's that was in this space before. Staff was super nice and helpful. Good menu selections. Good beverage selections (including beer, liquor, cocktails). Food was delivered fast and hot.
Salsa bar was nice but only offered three salsa options. A few more would be nice. BUT they also had limes, radishes, quick pickled cucumbers, and AMAZING grilled jalepenos on the salsa bar.
Wife had an asada burrito. I had three different tacos. We also got chips and guac and a couple of beers. Everything was really good. Best tacos ever? Nope. But pretty darned good.
The atmosphere has a hybrid feel --- part fast food... part hang out and drink lounge. Kinda dig it. And they have an air hockey table. Go figure. 😁
Daily food and beverage specials.
Drive thru option.

Today was my first time trying this new Mexican restaurant in my area. The service and food were awesome. We used their drive thru..
My daughter and I ordered the chicken burrito combo with a lemonade. The burrito is huge and very tasty. The chips were fresh, and the sauce they gave is very delicious. We will be returning again in the near future. And will tell others about them.

I arrived here around 7:07pm on a Saturday evening to get dinner. This is an old Wendy’s and i learned about this place via Instagram.
Order was placed at 7:13pm. I got the quesabirrias combo that comes with 2 tacos, rice, beans and a drink. I also got a rib eye asada taco. My date got a chicken quesadilla, loaded fries, and chips + queso. We also got drinks. I got a strawberry watermelon margarita and they got a mango passion margarita.
The drinks were made and given quickly. Normally they are $8.99 but per the receipt, the margaritas were $3.99. We love a good special! I enjoyed my margarita. It has the right about of alcohol. I didn’t like my date’s mango passion margarita. To me, it tasted like the prescribed medicine you get when you’re sick. To be fair, they didn’t like my margarita lol. I guess we both chose the right one for us. My date said they wished they had mango by itself vs being paired with passion fruit. I got sugar rim but it honestly didn’t matter because the cup was plastic vs glass.
After placing the order, we were given a number and took a seat. We sat at the booths that were semi lit. We received l the food at 7:25pm which was quick.
Food Quality: 3.5/5
-The beans were hot but the rice was lukewarm. The rib eye taco: Meat was DELICIOUS! Perfectly cooked. However, it was cool and barely warm.
-Quesabirria tacos weren’t bad. They tasted better with the consume. I’ve had quesabirria tacos that tasted great without the consume.
-Quesadilla: My date said: “the size was great; for the price, it was really good”
-Loaded fries: My date said: “the chicken was well seasoned” and the sauce on top was “good”.
Presentation: 4/5
-To my surprise, all the food was bagged up. I know I said for her. I asked the cashier and she confirmed I said for her. She apologized for the mix up. Since everything was boxed separately, it’s hard to judge what the presentation would’ve been like had it been plated for here. After we opened everything, I noticed we were missing the chips for the queso. I showed receipt and got the chips. It came in a to-go bag. The cashier brought over a plate for us to put the chips on.
My ride and beans were in the same container. I would’ve liked for it to be separate but it wasn’t a big deal. Although the food was packed to go, it was packed fairly well.
Service: 4/5
-Cashier was patient when ordering and provided some recommendations when asked as it was my our first time. She did apologize for mix up with take out vs dine in order. There were positive interactions with the other staff I interacted with.
Ambiance & Cleanliness: 5/5
-My date said “the vibe in here is really nice” and I would agree. I liked the decor. From the inside, you wouldn’t be able to tell it used to be a fast food restaurant. The restaurant was clean and tidy. They do have areas they are dimly lit and more intimate. To my surprise, they have a hockey table and gumball machine.
Value for Money: 5/5
-My date said “we got good portions” and noted this food would’ve cost more else where. I would agree. With all the food plus the two drinks, it was about $53.
-It seems they do have specials but they aren’t posted. While it was a nice surprise that the margaritas were cheaper, it would be nice for specials to be visible.
Overall Experience: 4/5
-The biggest issue was the mix up with to go vs dining in and the temperature of a few food items. Most of the food was delicious, staff were friendly, and the ambiance was fitting. I definitely would return!

This is the coolest taco bar I've ever been to. Tacos and Margheritas make a beautiful combination. My 81 year old mom loves this place. She likes to sit in the circular booth and eat a shrimp burrito bowl. Delicious food, mouth popping drinks, great music, and a chill vibe. It reminds me of a Miami social club. Enjoy

Feel very lucky to have such an excellent Mexican restaurant so close to home. The street tacos were flavorful, and I loved the grilled onions that came with the taco al pastor. Shrimp burrito was A+. My margarita was perfection, and I’m looking forward to trying the other versions on the menu. Atmosphere and decor are fun, and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Ery up at the register! Will definitely be back! Value is good, considering the excellent food quality.

Perfect Spot for Quick Bites, Vibrant Vibes, and Amazing Drinks!
This taco spot is a true gem! The place is filled with vibrant murals and artwork, creating an uplifting atmosphere that makes you want to stay and soak it all in. The music adds to the energy—upbeat and just what you need to get in a good mood.
Perfect for those on the go, the food is fast but doesn’t skimp on flavor. The drinks are incredible, refreshing, and full of flavor—definitely worth coming back for. It’s also a fantastic hangout with friends, or even to catch up on work in a fun, inspiring setting. A must-visit for anyone looking for quick eats with great vibes!

I am in love with Tacos Number Juan! I've gotten take-out from here three times and have tried a lot of things. Everything I've tried is delicious! The service was a little slow the first time I went, but I gave them another try since they had only been open a week or so. Each time I've been back, the service and the food have gotten better! I live nearby so I will definitely be frequenting!

The Consommé could have more kick but it’s a delicious broth. Queso is thick and tasty, not watered down. Interior seating could be better organized. Price to portion ratio seems spot on. We’ll definitely come back to try other menu items when they’ve had a few more weeks to work out the kinks. I’m glad they’re open late too, not many places are in this area besides fast food. Side note - When cleaning tables, spray each table then wipe. Don’t spray on the rag and then wipe multiple tables.

Atmosphere is amazing however service was ok honestly. Also I sort 33$ on two ACP’s , the portion isn’t worth the price at all. Could’ve at least gave chips with order.
