I stumbled across this delightful shop while eating in Brightleaf in December and absolutely fell in love with the store. Every bespoke item feels thoughtfully curated, and I was so taken with a few pieces of artwork that my husband went back after we left and bought them for me for Christmas. The vintage/old world aesthetic of items fills a very much needed charming niche in Durham, and I'm so delighted this shop is here!

The *most* beautiful shop in Brightleaf. Each time I've stepped foot in the door, I am immediately delighted with the thoughtful curations of gifts and goods. It is such a wonderful experience to browse and shop the selection of home goods, art, candles, specialty chocolate, etc. I'm so happy this store is in downtown Durham! Added bonus, the shop owner Madeline is so very lovely. I've chatted with her each time I've visited, and she has been so warm and welcoming.

I got the BEST gifts for friends and coworkers here! I had to really restrain myself from buying everything in sight; it was all so tastefully curated and beautiful. I found the prices to be reasonable too for the quality and selection. I'll definitely be back to get a vase I've been dreaming of since my visit (and probably more!) :)

I love the Borough! My sister (visiting from out of town) and I first shopped when it was newly opened in October. I’ve been in several more times since. It’s a wonderful selection of goods in a beautiful space with a very welcoming vibe. I’m delighted to have another favorite shop to visit while at Brightleaf!

I visit Durham often and always make plans to stop at The Borough! Madelaine has curated the most thoughtful items for home, gifting and self care. I can always find the most unique hostess gifts, birthday gifts and items for me too, all very reasonably priced. The store is beautifully decorated, each nook is an exploration! I am happy to support this small, local business woman. The Borough, located at Brightlead Square, is exactly the type of store downtown has needed.

We love the borough! I have never been able to come in here and just “browse” I always end up finding some beautiful bespoke item or gift that quickly becomes a staple in our house! Items are responsibly sourced and Madelaine, the owner, is truly a tastemaker when it comes to style and aesthetic. Don’t get your gifts anywhere else!

This store is phenomenal! The Borough is truly stunning and walking through it is a treat. They have the best and most interesting home goods, gifts, bags, jewelry, etc. they are items I have not seen elsewhere and I crave going back! The owner has such a gift for curating and finding these gems of pieces. I can’t wait to work with her on styling my home in the future. I couldn’t recommend Borough enough.

The Borough has been my favorite find since I've moved to Durham! Once you enter the store, you're greeted by the most beautiful items that's curated so perfectly. Every time I enter, there's something new to find!
The owner is also so lovely and helpful. Couldn't recommend this store enough! Perfect place for gifts for yourself or friends.
