It’s hard to snag a seat at the cozy True Flavors diner on the weekends, but the inventive menu is truly worth the wait. You’re served a hot, buttermilk biscuit the second you sit down (try not to inhale it), and the menu is filled with delicious dishes like slow-roasted duck hash with roasted red peppers, thyme, shallots, and eggs, or the creamy four-cheese shrimp and grits with peppers, onions, fresh corn, sausage and eggs on the side.

I am not sure why anyone would rate this place less than five stars. This is a hidden gem. Let me ask you this question: How does any restaurant only open for 4 days a week and stay in business? Skip this restaurant, and I will keep the secret to myself. Don't go if you are calorie counting or want small portion sizes. Don't go here if you don't like bacon. Just don't go here if you are looking for vegan or low carb options. The flavors of this place will leave your mouth watering and regretting there are days in the week when the open sign is not lit up. I got a smashed burger variation, and my partner got the southern fried egg sandwich. We also had the biscuits and jam.

Loved the vibe of this place. Stopped by for Sunday brunch and ordered the Biscuits and gravy, along with the waffles and it was pure deliciousness. If you're in the Triangle area I highly recommend paying them a visit. I'll be back real soon. Thanks For the awesome service and food True Flavors DINER.

True Flavors Diner has delicious french toast, waffles, and matches the diner vibes that are displayed in the name!
Our waitress's service was good and fast, but done with no personality. All work, no play. Wasn't a completely bad thing though. I think they were just extremely busy serving our and other tables. We certainly weren't left unattended when we needed anything.
The food amount served matched the cost spent if you're looking at getting a lot of food for your money. They absolutely love salt and butter though, so if that's not your thing, I wouldn't recommend True Flavors to you. However, we like soul food, and butter and salt does a huge part in making the soul sing haha.
We ordered the Biscoff French Toast (our favorite thing, Strawberry Cinnamon Roll Waffles, which were many mini waffles and not one big waffle, Chopped Chicken Gravy Biscuit (special of the day), and Butter Poached Lobster and Arugula Omelette, which was good but super greasy from the butter.
All in all, we got right in at 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday with no wait, and ate and left within 40 minutes of getting there. I'd recommend The Flavors Diner as a brunch spot to anybody looking for a brunch that doesn't need to have alcoholic spirits.

Went for brunch after church on a Sunday. We were told the wait for our party of three would be 45 minutes but we only ended up waiting for 25 minutes.
The aesthetic of the restaurant is top notch in my opinion; even the restroom was pretty nice. It is small so I felt like I was a part of the conversation at the neighboring table the entire time and that may have been because they were speaking a little loudly but they weren’t rowdy so it was all good.
There was quite a wait for the food but the waitress promised it would be worth it and the blueberry chicken biscuit definitely was! My husband ordered the duck and grits (not pictured) and he was not at all impressed. My 4 year old had the kids waffle with bacon and eggs. I wish she could have substituted the eggs because she doesn’t eat eggs but my husband gave them a happy home on his plate. I felt like her waffles were too small but she had a snack before our arrival and wasn’t able to finish her waffles and she gave her bacon to her dad as well. My chicken biscuit was massive and so tasty it has been living rent free in my thoughts and on the memory of my taste buds for almost a week!
The service was decent—not great, not bad though. Our waitress started out with very little personality, not rude, just not really friendly. She improved as the meal progressed and we actually shared a laugh at the end. I heard another waiter pick up a check off of a neighboring table, make a comment then use some foul word that I can’t recall. That was a turn off for me but I was glad he was only talking to himself and not a customer but I found it to be unprofessional still.
If we continue to get treated at least decently this’ll be a regular after church brunch spot for us!

Sincerely a fantastic experience.
Our server, Collin, made great recommendations and was spot on with all the expected points of service; pace, order accuracy, personality, general service…he crushed it.
The kitchen team and food was unbelievable. Food was amazing, and exceeded expectations. At first, I thought it was a bit pricey. I left feeling like I would have paid a dollar or two more without complaint.
All in all, I’m torn on how to finish this review. Part of me wants to be selfish, and steer everyone away. The truth is, if you go there, and it is on a wait, wait. It is truly exceptional.
My family and I will be back, and we all agree that we will try something completely different next time. Never a disappointment.
Don’t fill up on the biscuits and fresh jams/jellies. Amateur move.

Absolutely the best breakfast and brunch comfort food in the area. Perfectly cooked and crispy, succulent fried chicken, phenomenally savory aNd fluffy biscuits and gravy. So delicious, cannot believe the flavor in the gravy. The crispiest and tastiest potatoes and mac and cheese. Everything about this hole in the wall diner just hits perfectly on all levels it’s delivering on. Usually an hour wait on weekends, absolutely worth the wait.
Cannot emphasize enough how perfect the fried chicken was here. Love the small vibes and diner bar too. Good music vibes.

It was my first time at True Flavors. The wait time was long, but food made up for it for sure. My server was very nice, pleasant, warm, friendly, and attentive. I believe his name was Dave or David. Also, the other Hispanic lady was sweet. I will definitely recommend and pass the word around that this is a spot to come.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Friday morning and was so impressed! Menu has a lot to offer but I was especially excited to see a vegetarian option (the mushroom, cheese and eggs biscuit) and it turned out delicious— really thoughtfully made and came out hot and fresh. Very reasonable pricing too for such beautifully plated and generous portion. Service was also so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return!

I got the beef sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. That thing was huge! It ended up being 3 meals worth for me. Yes, it reheats well. Good flavor, and the biscuit wasn't dry.
The mini biscuits they bring to the table with strawberry jam are good, just a tad heavy on the butter in my opinion but still really tasty.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try, I'm so glad we did, when we got there it was pretty packed, the only spot they had open were the stools, so I would except a wait, but it is worth the wait, the vanilla bean ice coffee I got was really good, along with the blackberry lime French toast, my wife got a regular coffee and an omelet with grits , she said she really enjoyed it, and as an appetizer they bring out homemade biscuits and jam, they were some of the best biscuits I have ever had. Also the menu has alot of options. Definitely recommend this place, and me and my wife will be returning.

I've been coming here since 2018 when a friend recommended it - this is absolutely my FAVORITE restaurant anywhere!! my family and I ordered to go from here throughout the pandemic (when they were closed for sit-down service) and have been blown away by the amazing food for years!! you HAVE to try the rotating specials - they're always so creative and delicious!
Colin has usually been our waiter and he is wonderful! he jokes with customers and gives honest reviews about the specials and other dishes. it has been so cool seeing True Flavors evolve from a tiny, well-kept secret to the must-visit highlight of Durham dining!!

This is our favorite breakfast place!! The menu is anything but basic and is always changing. We have yet to find anything on the menu we don’t enjoy. The portion sizes are huge and make great left overs. Service is also always great and very quick!
I ordered the bacon, ham, and cheese omelette and my boyfriend ordered the fried pork chop and gravy biscuit. Both were soo good!!
