It’s hard to snag a seat at the cozy True Flavors diner on the weekends, but the inventive menu is truly worth the wait. You’re served a hot, buttermilk biscuit the second you sit down (try not to inhale it), and the menu is filled with delicious dishes like slow-roasted duck hash with roasted red peppers, thyme, shallots, and eggs, or the creamy four-cheese shrimp and grits with peppers, onions, fresh corn, sausage and eggs on the side.

We really like this place. Attaching a picture of my dish, cinnamon sugar waffles. Came with 2 eggs and a meat. I asked for the meat on a separate plate because I am vegetarian.

I highly recommend the food. However, I've found that the menu changed twice since my first time coming here, and I had to find new food to try. Today, we sat for Sunday brunch again and tried the following: Hot Honey Chicken and waffles - standard expectation of flavor and food. Duck ragu- my kid liked it at first and saved the rest for later, at home. Blueberry Rum French Toast - good balance of sweet. Chicken sausage was good, but scrambled eggs had shell, so I ordered ly finished the toast.

I arrived at 9:32am on a Sunday morning in a party of two. We were seated promptly. The table looks like it was meant to be sideways to fit 4 people which created an unusual distance between us. Our waiter came over at 9:35pm. He didn’t introduce himself and stated that he will get us waters and asked if we wanted something else. We received the waters quickly. He returned a couple minutes later to inquire if we had questions about the menu, which we did. I also asked about Debbie Lou’s Sandwich shop. He said it used to be separate until COVID. Then, they combined and were doing two separate menus. Now, they combined the menus and switch it up every couple months. At 9:50am, we ordered. I got the strawberry butter French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The other party got the cinnamon sugar waffles with bacon and side of cheese grits. At 10:02am, we received the food. Food Quality: 3/5 -At 9:52am, waiter brought over complimentary biscuits. The butter on top was visible and it was paired with a strawberry jam. The biscuits were soft, fluffy, and down right delicious! -Cheesy Grits: You must stir it because the cheese is at the bottom melting. My date stated “it’s good grits” -Bacon: The first piece of bacon I tasted was not warm at all and was chewy. Of my 3-4 pieces of bacon, only a small piece was warm and crispy like I expected. This was disappointing. My date’s bacon was the perfect temperature and crispiness. The disparity questions consistency. -Eggs: Perfect temperature but lacked seasoning or flavor. I added salt and pepper and it was fine. -French Toast: Very thick. The cream cheese was too much, in my opinion. This was evident when I cut into it and it basically drowned my French toast with the syrup. I was expecting fresh strawberries but it wasn’t. It tasted like strawberry crumbs as it was somewhat hard and crunchy. The edges of the French toast were a little over cooked and burnt in some places. The interior of the fresh toast was soft and delicious. -Waffles: My date said the “Cinnamon sugar was perfect.” I tasted it and they indeed were flavorful and delicious! Presentation: 5/5 -Well-presented, neat, and appetizing -Whipped cream butter on my French toast was in an excessive amount -There was a green garnish on the eggs, which was in excessive and overpowered the eggs. If there were only a couple Service: 4/5 -Per receipt, our waiter was “Isaiah M.” He was friendly and attentive. Outside of not introducing himself (which is a personal pet peeve), the service was great. He attempted to help me decide which entree to get as I was deciding between the strawberry butter French toast and cinnamon roll pancakes. He noted they both were great options and are a consistent menu item even as they rotate out the menu. Ambiance & Cleanliness: 5/5 -The music was great! It was mostly R&B, which is our favorite genre! -On the table, they have sugar, salt, pepper, creamer, and a container of straws. -The place was clean and tidy. Staff went around to clear plates and tables. Value for Money: 4/5 -For the two entrees and side of grits, the total was $41, which isn’t bad. -The side of eggs was tiny. It honestly shocked us. My date is allergic to eggs, so I ate his (which they did put on a separate plate) Overall Experience: 4/5 -My date said it was the “Best breakfast place I had in a while.” For him, his food and everything was perfect. He disliked they he was unable to substitute the eggs, which he is allergic to. This caused him to give me his eggs and pay for a different side. Total: 25/30 5 star: 29-30 4 star: 24-28 3 star: 19-23 2 star: 14-18 1 star: 6-13

Great presentation. Food came out looking really good and seasoned very well. The chicken and waffles was made expertly but the chicken itself didn't taste fresh. Everything else was very good so with the benefit of doubt I think maybe that one ingredient wasn't good was an anomaly.

We flew into Raleigh, North Carolina, from Florida on Friday morning and were craving a good southern breakfast. True Flavors Diner was exactly what we were looking for! This small but delicious diner exceeded our expectations. Our server, Isiah, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made sure we never had to ask for a thing. He truly enhanced our experience. As a party of four, we all left full, happy, and ready to start our day. If you’re in the area and looking for a great southern breakfast, True Flavors Diner is a must-visit!

The service and food were exceptional ♥️ I had the country fried steak biscuit and gravy and added an egg on top. It was unique from any other biscuits and gravy that I ever had. The flavor was different, but delicious‼️ I looked at other customers plates and saw that all of the dishes were unique and appeared delicious as well.

I am not sure why anyone would rate this place less than five stars. This is a hidden gem. Let me ask you this question: How does any restaurant only open for 4 days a week and stay in business? Skip this restaurant, and I will keep the secret to myself. Don't go if you are calorie counting or want small portion sizes. Don't go here if you don't like bacon. Just don't go here if you are looking for vegan or low carb options. The flavors of this place will leave your mouth watering and regretting there are days in the week when the open sign is not lit up. I got a smashed burger variation, and my partner got the southern fried egg sandwich. We also had the biscuits and jam.

Loved the vibe of this place. Stopped by for Sunday brunch and ordered the Biscuits and gravy, along with the waffles and it was pure deliciousness. My 2nd time here and both times were amazing. The biscuits are delicious, great service, and the music selection is perfect. Had the pork chop and waffles, delicious and a side of Mac n cheese also delicious. Will see you all again when I'm in town.

The food was absolutely amazing! Fantastic. Delicious. The service was not bad but they were not super friendly. Definitely seemed like they felt like they were doing us a favor by serving us.

True Flavors Diner has delicious french toast, waffles, and matches the diner vibes that are displayed in the name! Our waitress's service was good and fast, but done with no personality. All work, no play. Wasn't a completely bad thing though. I think they were just extremely busy serving our and other tables. We certainly weren't left unattended when we needed anything. The food amount served matched the cost spent if you're looking at getting a lot of food for your money. They absolutely love salt and butter though, so if that's not your thing, I wouldn't recommend True Flavors to you. However, we like soul food, and butter and salt does a huge part in making the soul sing haha. We ordered the Biscoff French Toast (our favorite thing, Strawberry Cinnamon Roll Waffles, which were many mini waffles and not one big waffle, Chopped Chicken Gravy Biscuit (special of the day), and Butter Poached Lobster and Arugula Omelette, which was good but super greasy from the butter. All in all, we got right in at 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday with no wait, and ate and left within 40 minutes of getting there. I'd recommend The Flavors Diner as a brunch spot to anybody looking for a brunch that doesn't need to have alcoholic spirits.

Went for brunch after church on a Sunday. We were told the wait for our party of three would be 45 minutes but we only ended up waiting for 25 minutes. The aesthetic of the restaurant is top notch in my opinion; even the restroom was pretty nice. It is small so I felt like I was a part of the conversation at the neighboring table the entire time and that may have been because they were speaking a little loudly but they weren’t rowdy so it was all good. There was quite a wait for the food but the waitress promised it would be worth it and the blueberry chicken biscuit definitely was! My husband ordered the duck and grits (not pictured) and he was not at all impressed. My 4 year old had the kids waffle with bacon and eggs. I wish she could have substituted the eggs because she doesn’t eat eggs but my husband gave them a happy home on his plate. I felt like her waffles were too small but she had a snack before our arrival and wasn’t able to finish her waffles and she gave her bacon to her dad as well. My chicken biscuit was massive and so tasty it has been living rent free in my thoughts and on the memory of my taste buds for almost a week! The service was decent—not great, not bad though. Our waitress started out with very little personality, not rude, just not really friendly. She improved as the meal progressed and we actually shared a laugh at the end. I heard another waiter pick up a check off of a neighboring table, make a comment then use some foul word that I can’t recall. That was a turn off for me but I was glad he was only talking to himself and not a customer but I found it to be unprofessional still. If we continue to get treated at least decently this’ll be a regular after church brunch spot for us!

Sincerely a fantastic experience. Our server, Collin, made great recommendations and was spot on with all the expected points of service; pace, order accuracy, personality, general service…he crushed it. The kitchen team and food was unbelievable. Food was amazing, and exceeded expectations. At first, I thought it was a bit pricey. I left feeling like I would have paid a dollar or two more without complaint. All in all, I’m torn on how to finish this review. Part of me wants to be selfish, and steer everyone away. The truth is, if you go there, and it is on a wait, wait. It is truly exceptional. My family and I will be back, and we all agree that we will try something completely different next time. Never a disappointment. Don’t fill up on the biscuits and fresh jams/jellies. Amateur move.

Absolutely the best breakfast and brunch comfort food in the area. Perfectly cooked and crispy, succulent fried chicken, phenomenally savory aNd fluffy biscuits and gravy. So delicious, cannot believe the flavor in the gravy. The crispiest and tastiest potatoes and mac and cheese. Everything about this hole in the wall diner just hits perfectly on all levels it’s delivering on. Usually an hour wait on weekends, absolutely worth the wait. Cannot emphasize enough how perfect the fried chicken was here. Love the small vibes and diner bar too. Good music vibes.
