I was there for a few weeks back. It was a great experience. It was not very busy. My food came out pretty fast and it was delicious. I did want to try some desserts that they had on the menu, but they were out that day.

The food is very good and authentic and the environment feels clean and hip. I like this location more than the Chapel Hill one for the atmosphere. It's larger and more spacious and the air conditioning works.
I had the lamb soup, which was surprisingly delicious. There was plenty of meat and cabbage inside AND you get a surprise of vermicelli glass noodles (didn't see that listed in descriptions). The broth was very rich, and I enjoyed every mouthful.
My partner ordered the boiled fish in hot chili oil. It was quite spicy, but you do get steamed rice with it. She liked it, but I preferred my lamb soup.
It was nice that they gave us plenty of bowls and spoons to share everything. The server didn't really come by to check on us, and we had to wave him down for the check but overall service wasn't bad.
You do have to figure out parallel parking though it seems.

I've been meaning to stop by this restaurant since they opened. The Kung Pao chicken is very good. The pot belly is acquired taste but nice and tender. The service was top notch and they were so welcoming! 👌 The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. I definitely will be back!

I would almost call this New York style Chinese food on 9th Street in Durham. I ordered to go, the food traveled well and I like the little takeaway bowl that separates the noodles from the soup. The pork belly soup is where it's at, definitely order it while you're there. I also ordered the double cooked pork, it had one spicy marker next to it on the menu and I agree with that level of spice. ( If you don't like spicy food, note that one spice marker Will get your mouth tingling). Scallion pancakes were light and crispy. And the staff was very friendly.

If you’re in a mood for comfort food give this place a try. You can’t go wrong with steamed chicken with rice, scallion pancakes and braised beef noodles. We’ve eaten here several times and the food was delicious every time. Service was always friendly and fast. Highly recommend!

Wheat 麦茶 absolutely deserves a 5-star review! From the moment we walked in, everything about our experience was delightful. The staff was incredibly polite and friendly, making us feel welcomed and valued as customers. Their service truly added a warm touch to our dining experience.
The food was great and tasty, leaving us wanting more. We started with the Chicken Lo Mein, which was a delicious blend of perfectly cooked noodles, succulent chicken pieces, and just the right mix of vegetables, all tossed in a savory sauce that was full of flavor without being overpowering.
Next up was the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, a comforting bowl of rich, aromatic broth that had depth and warmth. The beef was tender and fell apart at the slightest touch, melding beautifully with the noodles and broth to create a symphony of flavors in each spoonful.
The Peking Beef Burrito was a delightful surprise, combining traditional flavors in an innovative way. The beef was seasoned and cooked to perfection, wrapped in a soft, warm tortilla with a hint of crispiness. It was an exciting twist on classic Peking beef, and we savored every bite.
The only downside was the limited selection of desserts available during our visit. We would have loved to try more sweet treats to end our meal on a high note. But, usually, they have a lot of desserts.
Our overall experience at Wheat Restaurantwas exceptional. The inviting atmosphere, combined with the delectable food and outstanding service, made our visit memorable. We highly recommend Wheat 麦茶 to anyone looking for great food in a friendly setting. It's a place we'll definitely be returning to!
