“100 Years of Duke: Names to Remember” Exhibit Opening Event

The Museum of Durham History invites the public for a landmark, FREE event celebrating the centennial anniversary of Trinity College becoming Duke University. The special exhibition, 100 Years of Duke: Names to Remember, will open with a party at the Museum. This free event offers a unique opportunity to explore the transformative history of Duke University and its deep ties to the Durham community.

The exhibition, which runs through spring 2025, will commemorate Duke’s evolution from its origins as a small schoolhouse in Randolph County to its establishment as a world-renowned institution in 1924. Through this fascinating journey, visitors will encounter the individuals, institutions, and events that have shaped both Duke University and the city of Durham.

Guests at the opening celebration will enjoy Duke-themed décor with scavenger hunt giveaways, live music, refreshments provided by local restaurants, and engaging presentations from speakers representing Duke University, the Duke Endowment, and individuals featured in the exhibit. 100 Years of Duke: Names to Remember is sponsored by Duke University Centennial, The Forest at Duke, and Duke Community Affairs.
