Butterflies & Moths: Discover Your Love of Leps!

Leps, short for Lepidoptera, commonly known as butterflies and moths, are an important order of insects vital to the health of our ecosystems. Learn how you can attract and support the life cycles of these day and nighttime pollinators, create a mini habitat in your own backyard with native plants, and understand what they most need from humans. Discover your love of Leps through experiencing their beauty and inspiration with Lior Carlson of Backyard Butterflies!

Backyard Butterflies is a nonprofit organization located in Hillsborough, NC. They provide Lepidoptera education, community outreach, and assistance with creating backyard butterfly and moth friendly gardens or habitats. During the Lepidoptera season they conduct plant sale fundraisers, free yard consultations, presentations, and conduct citizen science events such as the Hillsborough Moth Crawl, Annual Moth Night, Annual Open House & Plant Swap, Caterpillar Support, and a Plant Donation Program open to schools, parks, HOAs, nonprofits, groups, and organizations.
