Elements of the Garden Series: Air
A garden is a balance of choices made in relationship with the elements of earth, wind, fire and water. Join Martin Jahn, horticulturist in the Culberson Asiatic Arboretum at Duke Gardens, to explore the way these elements show up in a garden and in the practices humans have used to cultivate gardens for millennia. In this session, investigate the role of air in soil health, the relationship between wind and seed saving projects and what an air spade can do to improve your mature trees. Look for other sessions in this series on January 18 (fire), March 15 (water) and April 19 (earth). Register separately for each session. Fee. Preregistration required.
