Equity and Access to Blood Cancer Care in the Black Community
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Accessibility to care is critical to cancer health equity. Mistrust of the health care system, difficulty understanding medical information, and misinformation about clinical trials are common among people of color. These barriers can make accessing quality blood cancer treatment challenging. This program will help participants gain a better understanding of blood cancer, self-advocacy, diagnosis, and treatment. Attendees will also learn about the importance of clinical trials.
In addition, participants will learn about resources available in their community, support and services provided by LLS, and how to access care. Patients are encouraged to bring their caregivers and family members.
