Farming While Black Film Screening & Panel Discussion

Farming While Black is an award-winning feature-length documentary film that examines the historical plight of Black farmers in the United States and the rising generation reclaiming their rightful ownership of land and reconnecting with their ancestral roots.

The film chronicles Leah Penniman of Soul Fire Farm and two other Black farmers’ efforts to regain their agricultural heritage. Collectively, their work has a significant impact, as each is a leader in sustainable agriculture and food justice movements.

Join us for a screening of this film and a follow-up panel discussion with the film’s co-producer, Lynn Waymer, and three farmers from the Carolinas—Delphine Sellars of Catawba Trail Farm, Kendrick Ransome of Golden Organic Farm, and Ashley Walker of So Herban Homestead—each with their own stories of reclamation and empowerment through land stewardship.
